Údarás na Gaeltachta – Gaeltacht Ghlas
Method Toolbox
- Desk Research, Expert Interviews, Series of Client Workshops
Framing the Problem
Ireland’s Gaeltachts are Irish-speaking areas found particularly in some of the country’s most rural and remote regions, and Údarás na Gaeltachta is the government agency responsible for language support and enterprise in these areas. The project began with a hypothesis that the Gaeltachts have the potential to own a distinctive version of the sustainability and green agenda. The challenge was to understand what version of this the Gaeltachts wanted to develop, take ownership of and bring forward.
Our Approach
Through an immersive process of stakeholder consultation and expert and practitioner interviews, we brought four ‘tribes’ in relation to the Gaeltacht to life. These formed the basis for a series of workshop sessions designed to shape a version of the Gaeltacht Ghlas (Green Gaeltacht) brand to take forward.
The Breakthrough
Workshopping is ongoing to embed and action the findings across the Údarás teams, with the ambition of cascading them into both a ‘Gaeltacht Ghlas’ brand and a range of associated projects.
